Dave Dir "A" USSF National License & NSCAA Advanced National Diploma Born in anchorage Alaska, Dave Dir is one of the most successful Professional American Coaches in US Soccer History. Dave played professionally as a goalkeeper for the Chicago Sting in the NASL, and was the Sting’s first draft pick in 1981. He made his coaching debut in youth soccer as a goalkeeper coach for the Colorado ODP program in 1988 and has been a member of the Regional and National staff, where he started the highly successful 00 Goalkeeper Schools. He has been a successful Head Coach at the High School, Collegiate, Club, and Professional level. As Head Coach of the Dallas Burn, Dave holds the record for longest tenure with one team in MLS History, as well as forth highest all-time win-record in league history. He won the U.S. Open Cup, the oldest Professional Cup Championship in the U.S., with the Dallas in 1997 and back-to-back APSL Championships with the Colorado Foxes in 92, 93. Currently Coach Dir is the president of ASG National and an Asst. Coach for the US Men’s U-20 National team. Coach Dir also works as a color commentator for ESPN, Fox, and Local Networks where he contributes through his vast knowledge of the game and his personal insight as a long-time Coach in the MLS. Dave also served as co-host on World Cup Tonight for the 2002 World Cup. He resides in Dallas with his wife Cindy and his 2 dogs, Harley and Mango.
