ASG at
State Cup
91G Gold West won their
first 3 games and have advanced to the semifinals of State Cup. 94G Gold
West went 1-1-0. 95G Gold West went 0-3. 96G Gold Central went 1-1-0 and
advanced to the Quarter-Finals. 91B Gold West are currently 2-0-0. 95G
Gold Central went 2-1-0. 97B Gold West went 0-1-1. Congrats to all the ASG
teams!!!
91B Gold Central
After achieving a 3rd place
finish in U-17 Classic One the weekend prior, the ASG 91B Gold entered
State Cup with high expectations. The boys played well winning the first
two games against Classic Two teams by a combined score of 12 - 2.
Unfortunately, the third pool game was a loss to the two-time defending
State Cup champions Ayses, 2 - 1. ASG held a 1 - 0 half-time lead but
Ayses increased its pressure in the second half to earn two goals. The
loss was the teams first to a defending State Cup Champions this year in
seven games, previously with wins over Louisiana, Iowa, N. Texas (twice),
and ties against the Minnesota and Southern California champs.
96G Gold Central
The 96G Gold Central coached by Dave Kunitz
advanced to the Semi Finals in the State Cup after the first weekend of
play. After a slow start,
they won their first game 2-0 against East Texas Spirit 96G Navy with
goals from Madison Ferrer and Alyssa Silva. In
their second match, the girls lost a
hard-fought battle 1-0 to
Solar Red, the number two ranked
team in North Texas. They advanced into the third Wildcard spot in
the Quarter Finals and were matched
against FC Dallas, the number one team in North Texas. The 96G Gold
team's defense held tight against
FC Dallas' explosive offense which scored on average 2.5 goals per game in
league play. Combined with great saves from their keeper Courtney
McKeon, strong dependable play from their anchor and fellow captain in the
back Qyara Winston, and solid play from the entire defensive line they
held FC Dallas to 1 goal. Great teamwork from the midfield and forward
line yielded 4 goals from Carson Cross (2), Madison Leenher (captain), and
Madison Ferrer against a team that only allowed on average less than one
goal per game in league play. The final result was a stunning 4-1
victory over FC Dallas,
which advanced ASG 96G Gold Central to the Semi Finals of
State Cup '08 . Great job
and wonderful teamwork girls! Good luck this weekend!!

Dallas Cup
The ASG 91 Boys Gold finished 3rd in the fall classic league
season just 6 points behind the top spot. Their 8-4 record was
accomplished by scoring 21 goals in on only 12 games. With this finish
they also qualified for Dallas cup . Congratulations to the boys on a
fantastic season .
99 Boys North keep
the winning streak going!
ASG 99 Gold North are the Indoor Champions in the U10
division at BlueSky. Additionally they played in the Kyle Owen Classic
Tournament this weekend in the U10 division and placed second. It was the
teams first experience with 11 v 11 . They only last by 1 point in the
last minute of the finals. Our boys however played an 11 v 11 game at
8:30 that morning, and indoor championship at 10:45 and the final at
12:30.
It was a great experience and all of us at ASG are very
proud of them. Alphonse also deserves a huge congratulations on the
patient development of this group.
Great news!
The boys won second in Disney. If you can add the following to the
website along with the attached picture, that would be great. We are
so proud of the boys.
